गुरु तेग बहादुर की शहादत दुनिया में मानव अधिकारों के लिए पहली शहादत थी.
औरंगज़ेब के जुल्म से बचाने के किए पंडित कृपा राम ने जब नौवें गुरु का दरवाज़ा खटखटाया तो 24 नवंबर 1675 को, उन्होंने अपनी शहादत दे कर हिंदू धर्म की रक्षा की.
