Watching Robert Donat in , it's amazing to think that, after the smash success of The Count of Monte Cristo in 1934, his next movie was supposed to be Captain Blood. But he loathed Hollywood so much that he went home to the UK and never came back.

Classic Film TV Cafe I was so pleased to learn that Terry Kilburn who played Tiny Tim in the 1938 and also is still with us at 93 years old. I loved him in Goodbye Mr Chips with Robert Donat when he poignantly played all the boys of the Colley family.

is another movie, like Captain Blood, where you can see a star being born right before your eyes - Greer Garson. She is irresistibly charming.

#133. Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1939): A really sturdy inspiring teacher story that set a high bar early on within the subgenre. Greer Garson is very charming in a brief but important role
