THIS is the FIRST time the elephant 🐘 in the room reality of needing another Brexit referendum has been mentioned on MSM since 2019!

Thanks to Piers Morgan 👏 all the politicians have been too FRIT to say the bloody obvious!

We should’ve had a referendum instead of GE19

Michelle Donelan was badly influenced by a Policy Exchange report.
Sunak thanked Policy Exchange for their biased reports.
2 CPS lobbyists wrote the GE19 U Turn manifesto, having received $60,000 from Cherish Freedom.

Hello Diane Abbott
I campaigned for Labour for GE19. The vast majority of people I spoke to were either not going to vote Labour because of Corbyn or were going to vote Labour despite Corbyn . Almost all wished Labour was not lead by Corbyn.
Corbyn lost Labour the GE.

Shameful GE19 intervention by unelected Chief Rabbi who does NOT speak for all UK Jews. GE19 is a 2 horse-race: Johnson's party of Go Home vans, racist insults, links to antisemites and Islamophobes in Europe v radical reforming Labour. Where is the Chief Rabbi's moral compass?

I'm the Liberal Democrats candidate for Halesowen and Rowley Regis.

But when the sitting Brexit backing MP has over 7K followers, and I have less than 500, getting the message through is tough.

I'm fighting to Stop Brexit. If you are too, then please RT and follow me.

Brexit is the only big legacy of the 2019-24 parliament

The Conservatives have achieved remarkably little since winning a landslide in the GE19. Most govt’s that win big majorities can point to a coherent set of laws that shape the country in their image.

Don't forget all the secret/corrupt payments to various MP's in the GE19 election.
The Tories buy democracy by receiving suspect donations and suspicious payments to MP's.
The electoral system was designed by Tories to enable corrupt/secretive payments.

This is astonishing footage of Boris Johnson being asked about cuts he made to London Fire Brigade when Mayor.

His reply? “Get stuffed.”

wasn’t long after.

Prime Minister? Don’t be daft.

Today's elections are especially interesting from an analytical perspective because the baseline (the previous results) for most council seats being contested is 2021.

Given the realignment that took place in GE19, this means we're *finally* comparing apples to apples (ish).

Jesus Christ... I was thinking it would be in the 50s at most (tho I did misremember GE19's as *35*!).

Is 'existential crisis' hyperbolic? Maybe not; they're barely acknowledging this. How long can they chance it before they're seen as the 'OAPs' party' beyond us politics nerds?

And on the headline 'low [by-election] turnout is cause for concern'...

Standard parl' by-election turnout is 50-60% of what it was in a GE. So if for eg in GE19 turnout was 72%, expect it to end up between 36-43 in a BE.

Kingswood's was 52% of the GE
Wellingborough's was 59%

You know how you bang on about the establishment?
Can you explain who's idea it was to get an establishment Etonian to write the GE19 U turn manifesto? 3 months after receiving $60K from Cherish Freedom F Robert Colvile is writing the BS manifesto advocating Centre for Policy Studies policies.

This feels plausible (IMO) mainly because it's pretty much exactly the same swing as Selby in the same part of the country.

There was a 24 pt swing at the Selby and Ainsty by-election, this is ~22 pt swing (if using GE19 as the baseline) from similar starting vote shares.
