I love that the fresco at the Villa of the Mysteries, #Pompeii can become, from a certain angle, an abstract blend of colours and draped shapes. #FrescoFriday

Today's #FrescoFriday takes us to the Porto Fluviale or river port downstream from central #Rome , where a mid-C2 CE fresco cycle introduces us to those kindly, beneficent denizens of the #Roman sea, the #dolphin . Why anyone would see this beautiful cetacean as #evil is a mystery.

Tomb of the Diver at Paestum
It was found by Mario Napoli in June of 1968, near the city of Paestum located in Magna Graecia. Its significance is that it contains the only example of Greek wall painting from the Classical period to survive in entirety.
