The full data set from our recently published paper on incipient motion of #microplastics in Environ. Sci. Tech. (pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…) is available at:
doi.org/10.11583/DTU.1…
The data set includes numerous videos demonstrating incipient motion, like the one below:
Lots of delays over the last year but finally completing our tidal turbine tests in waves at QinetiQ's towing tank #flumefriday #tidalenergy #renewableenergy #fluidmechanics
It's starting to look like an experiment! We're going to look at the migration of a sand&clay mount under waves and currents #flumefriday
Found a sequence of stills and made them into a gif (pronounced gif) for #flumefriday . What do you see?
My first breach experiment with a zoned embankment dam! This dam contains a central vertical core and a sand/gravel shell. The shell on the downstream side is eroded by the overtopping flow, leaving the core unsupported and vulnerable to collapse 🌊

It’s a bittersweet #flumefriday as we near the end of the experimental portion of this project. We are measuring the effect of floodplain vegetation density on meandering channel flow and bed morphology. CSU Civil and Environmental Engineering Ryan Morrison Evan Malloy
Visiting the LEGI at Grenoble this week !
They are doing fascinating turbidity currents/underwater avalanches made hydrogel beads on an inclined tank (40deg) !

Today on #flumefriday Undergraduate summer research student Marina St. Marseille is in the lab measuring find sand motion at the threshold of erosion! Andy Take @queens_civil Beaty Water Research Centre GeoEng Centre Queen's Engineering
A new experiment on fine sediment infiltration is running.
How beautiful is watching sediments being transported? #FlumeFriday
New Paper! 'Flume Investigation Into Mechanisms Responsible for Particle Sorting in Gravel-Bed Meandering Channels'

Our experimental channel is finally starting to look like a “real” river! Big thanks to the students in Bruce MacVicar’s lab for helping glue on these rocks one by one. #FlumeFriday McMaster SEES McMaster Research
It holds water! Getting this basin to do it’s #1 job (holding water) has been a JOURNEY. #FlumeFriday
It is #FlumeFriday AND #FishFriday , my dudes! In honor, pllease enjoy this video of one of my smallies Kármán gaiting in our #EEL racetrack flume.
What is Kármán gaiting? SO GLAD YOU ASKED.
