Today’s from 1964 commemorates the 8th Centenary of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. In 2019, the building suffered a tragic fire while undergoing renovations, but all of the Stained Glass Windows survived. This image is from the center of the West Rose Window.

Today’s features the British Empire Exhibition 1924— the aim of which was to stimulate trade and strengthen bonds throughout the British Empire. It is my understanding that this stamp and its 1d counterpart were the first commemorative stamps issued by the UK.

Today’s is Queen Victoria with this Half Penny on a Half-Sized stamp from 1870.
I had never seen this stamp before, and even though it is small, and has been cancelled at least twice, I am happy to add this to my collection.

Today’s is this wonderful stamp from 1967 of the “Fjäll” Landscape in Northwestern Sweden. (A fjäll is a high and barren landscape.) Designed by Sixten Lundbohm and engraved by the famous Czeslaw Slania, it has a simple beauty that makes me feel at peace.
