Today’s #EngravedBeauty from 1964 commemorates the 8th Centenary of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. In 2019, the building suffered a tragic fire while undergoing renovations, but all of the Stained Glass Windows survived. This image is from the center of the West Rose Window.
Today’s #EngravedBeauty is from 1951 and features George VI with a tall ship, the HMS Victory. Most UK issues from this era are printed using the Photogravure process, but this one and others in the set are Recess printed. Beautiful design!
Today’s #EngravedBeauty is this lovely stamp from 1968 featuring a painting by Auguste Renoir: ‘Portrait of a Model’. It was painted with oil on canvas sometime in 1876-1877, and is currently on display at the Musée d'Orsay, in Paris, France.
Today’s #EngravedBeauty is a wonderful painting by French artist Jean-François Millet, ‘The Winnower’ ver. 3, oil on canvas, 1848. The original is at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. Winnowing is the process by which chaff is separated from grain. Another engraving by Gandon.
Today’s #EngravedBeauty features the British Empire Exhibition 1924— the aim of which was to stimulate trade and strengthen bonds throughout the British Empire. It is my understanding that this stamp and its 1d counterpart were the first commemorative stamps issued by the UK.

Today’s #EngravedBeauty features more Stamps on Stamps, commemorating 100 years of stamp use and 75 years of Monaco stamps. The center one is the first stamp of Monaco. The left one is from 1860 Sardinia (which is also embossed), and the one on the right from 1860 France.
Today’s #EngravedBeauty features a Stamp on Stamp from France. This stamp was issued as part of a set to commemorate PHILATEC, an international stamp show held in Paris, 1964. The stamp inside in from 1900, and is referred to as ‘Allegorical Subjects (Type Blanc).

Here's an #EngravedBeauty issued by The Souvenir Card Collectors Society. The image of the Brooklyn Bridge was executed by the International Bank Note Co. in 1888. Those were the days for engraving.

Today’s #EngravedBeauty is this wonderful stamp from 1967 of the “Fjäll” Landscape in Northwestern Sweden. (A fjäll is a high and barren landscape.) Designed by Sixten Lundbohm and engraved by the famous Czeslaw Slania, it has a simple beauty that makes me feel at peace.
Today’s #EngravedBeauty is this 1960 American Credo stamp featuring a quote by Thomas Jefferson from a letter to his friend Benjamin Rush while he was experiencing party conflict. It was sent 5 weeks before the elections that made him the 3rd President of the United States.
