First ACTUAL slot prior to the Duritriges project! Another interesting Ironage site! From the Durotriges tribe in the south, back up north to the Coritani tribe!

It's not nice putting sections through baked clay... it could have gone allot worse, though!

Bronze Age burials

The discovery includes the burial of an adult male in a tightly packed grave alongside collared urns, indicating the transition from the Neolithic period to the Early Bronze Age, making it approximately 4000 years old.

That's my week digging on the Durotriges big dig done. Finished up the week with a section drawing and plan of my pit. It's been an honour, and I have met some wonderful people!

Back to the clays and silts of the northern commercial excavations for me!

The Belgae and The Durotriges
12th and 13th Celtic tribes of Britain.
Both situated on the south coast of Britain, or Albion as it was called then.
Both tribes are part of the larger Atrebates and continental Belgic tribes of Europe.

A gorgeous blue glass bead from a Late Iron Age farmstead at Winterborne Kingston

Photographed as freshly excavated in 2016

We don't get many fashion accessories from the Durotriges but when we do they are utterly stunning 😍

Badbury Rings. One of Dorset's finest ancient sites. It is just 5 miles from my front door. This was the site of one of the battles between the romans and the Durotriges. A roman leader stated that the Durotriges were one of the Brythonic tribes to put up a formidable resistance.
