Diverse Alzheimers Q9, I’d like to be able to speak about end of life, but you need the other person to be prepared to listen and engage. I’m sure deep inside us we feel it’s disrespectful in some way, to talk about your death when you’re still alive.

Arguably DrDr (😊)Wendy Mitchell anna wharton book will have considerable interest in the dementia community with its essential theme of end of life. It will encourage conversations. The fact it goes beyond dementia per se opens up possibilities. End of life applies to all @diversealz

Diverse Alzheimers DrDr (😊)Wendy Mitchell anna wharton Q1, Hopefully it will get conversation’s started. It’s true in the UK we don’t talk about the end of life, yet it’s also part of living.

Diverse Alzheimers DrDr (😊)Wendy Mitchell Q4, I do agree! My children however don’t. Regardless I’m working through β€œMy Future Care” handbook and have managed to tick off a good few of the things I need to do. Hopefully it will make life easier for my children at the end.

Diverse Alzheimers DrDr (😊)Wendy Mitchell Kathryn Mannix A good GP is one who doesn't just prescribe medications but is also a good listener & if had same one for a time will know about living circumstances etc. Unfortunately, many not see same GP that leads to loss of this vital element & poor connection/communications

Diverse Alzheimers DrDr (😊)Wendy Mitchell anna wharton Choices are v important. As is being able to change your mind. Having all this recorded so can be easily accessed & wishes complied with when die. Probably, many people still not aware of need for this or how to do it

anna wharton Diverse Alzheimers DrDr (😊)Wendy Mitchell I lost my Mom to pancreatic cancer last year. She was diagnosed, was in hospice for about a week before she passed away. This was all in a period of 3 weeks. Having been there with her, I have many questions now about her experience. I miss her every day. β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

Diverse Alzheimers DrDr (😊)Wendy Mitchell We talk about another important anagram in the book you might like to hear about in terms of receiving medical interventions β€” BRAN β€” things we should all ask our doctors

What are the BENEFITS
what are the RISKS
what are the ALTERNATIVES
and what if I do NOTHING

anna wharton Diverse Alzheimers DrDr (😊)Wendy Mitchell This can be issue if person goes to live in nursing home as my mum did. She had same GP for 30 years but had to change as home in another area. He was okay, but even so, rather she'd kept original GP. Social Care Manager also stopped & never understood why

Diverse Alzheimers Everyone is different. Listen, watch and feel how the person is doing with the move. Lots of prep and planning prior to the move. Less anxiety and stress the better.
