Early this AM, IL legislators made history by passing a budget that includes a $150M #ChildTaxCredit . This victory was multiple years in the making, led by our affiliate org Economic Security for Illinois, allies, and local parents.
IL is now the 15th state with a CTC!

VICTORY! In the early hours of the morning, the Illinois General Assembly passed a budget that creates a $150M #ChildTaxCredit — a huge win for families and the local economy.
With this, Illinois becomes the 15th state to pass a CTC!

We can do this by closing corporate loopholes and investing those savings into the #childtaxcredit #childcare & affordable housing programs.
Republicans claim to be the party of tax cuts. But it’s really just for the wealthy and well-connected.
Democrats are sending the checks for the #ChildTaxCredit to America’s families.
When you see that check: Remember that every single Republican voted no.
Simplifying tax credits and making them more generous are complementary goals that policymakers should pursue in tandem as part of a more comprehensive package.
