It looks like a scene from a trip to Scandinavia or something. But nope, just a Friday night in Boulder county, Colorado.
Rime-caked trees around 11,500’ bathed in soft pink light from the aurora. Totally surreal experience!

Sorry to my parents for waking them up at 12:30a, but WOW. Could even see a dim glow on the mountaintops as it got brighter! (Granby, CO)

Some more Aurora Barbwirealis from Friday Night on the Northern Colorado border northeast of Sterling, and only 1 mile northwest of my own backyard.

I love these backdrops for thunderstorms but what a treat this was with pulsing curtains and arcs streaming overhead.

Rain showers will move south over Denver and its western suburbs into western Douglas county, dissipating by 10 PM. After that skies will be clear in most areas, with slower clearing over the central mountains and eastern Colorado border areas.

Showers and an isolated thunderstorm will spread south from Ft Collins, Loveland and Greeley towards Longmont through 8 PM. They will decrease approaching the Denver metro area later this evening.
Small hail and wind gusts to 40 mph are possible with the strongest storm.
