We arrived at the in this morning and Stephen found he can’t leave his overnight bag to the museum but there’s a shop at the corner which will keep luggage for a fee. We’re visiting the Legion - Life in the Roman Army exhibition 🤩

This striking portrait bust of a girl is in the British Museum collection. She sat for this portrait around 200-220AD & we know she had red hair as some of the pigment on the statue has survived. Her hair is divided into plaits, twisted into a knot on the back of the head

This amazingly detailed sandstone sculpture was carved around 1,000 years ago in India. Sculptural pieces like this once decorated the outside of temples. Here the gods Vishnu (‘Hari’) and Shiva (‘Hara’) are combined in the deity Harihara who is depicted in the centre

Real treat today to read through the new British Museum research volume by the amazing Ralph Jackson on Greek and Roman medical implements. How cool are these boxes of medicine?!
