To all who have been a part of our #NT2t chat

Special shoutout to David Pollard and Simon Johnson 🙋‍♂️ for heading the #NT2t eu so they could connect educators in the EU! #NT2t

One result of our #NT2t chat, and other #edchat as well, was how we were able to work with university students and get them connected BEFORE they started teaching full time! We had many universities have participation in an edchat as an assignment. I LOVED that!

It has also been amazing to watch - over the past 10 years - how much technology/social media has influenced and grown. Thinking back over the past 10 years, we did a lot of #NT2t chats explaining how to use Twitter and participate in a chat!

Several amazing things came out of our #NT2t chat these past 10 years:
-the people I have met and friendships created
-providing a safe place for educators to engage in 'real' talk
-global collaborations on classroom projects
-empowering others to start their own chats

For those who like to stay in touch, I do check Twitter (refuse to call it by its new name 🤣) every once in a while, but am more active on LinkedIn (Julie Szaj) and Instagram (shyj). I have really pulled back on social media though - the atmosphere is not one that I value #NT2t

I also remember having a few challenging conversations with some participants where the goal for them was to get in an argument with me. I wouldn't bite. I was so touched by the amount of others who sent me a DM during and after the confrontation to see if I was okay. #NT2t

I need to start with some #NT2t memories including the weekend where we had a 24 HOUR CHAT!!! We did this so we could chat with educators from around the world, regardless of time zones! I remember waking up at 3:00 am to run a chat! What an amazing time!

I am Julie, from Missouri, USA. I was a classroom teacher, instructional specialist, and now work in higher ed. I, along with Stephan Hughes Marty Keltz and ruta io started this chat 10 years ago by having a side conversation during #satchat What a great adventure we've had!
