I ❤️ Alex Garland. Not many filmmakers with his stone cold storytelling chops use them to take risky moonshots every single time. Civil War doesn’t soft-pedal its premise but it’s the opposite of preachy or didactic - it’s a muscular horror movie with real heart. Loved it.

Three Body Problem is up now on Netflix. To see the ideas and images in Liu Cixin’s books realized on this scale and told this well is exciting… and if you’ve read the books you know the places this all ends up going, and it’s INSANE. Worth strapping in for the ride, I promise.

Emmet came to set with 2 things: a copy of his credits, which was a small-type single spaced double column list of modern classics that filled a whole page, & two-dollar bills which he passed out to the entire crew. “Don’t spend it and you’ll never be broke.” Absolute legend. ♥️

Snack Shack, which was produced by our company T-Street, is out in theaters. It’s a super fun throw-back to raunchy teen comedies of the 70s and 80s, it has a terrific young cast and a lot of heart. See it! ❤️

This is fantastic news, has been top of my wish list for years. The “director’s cut” was all that was avail for a long time, & is bizarrely a sort of inverse master class in editing: It shows exactly why the cuts were made in the first place & how they made the film work.
