If someone asks you a question, answer it directly and *then* give your qualifiers/nuance/strategy.

It's just more effective -- people's brains spin until they hear their question answer. (It also makes it clear that you were listening and care about the other person's time.)

Labour doesn't want this campaign to be about whether children should vote or 18 year olds should serve. In their kind of Keystone way the campaign is going quite well for the Tories.
