I’ve been working a lot with HTML Canvas lately and always blown away by the performance. Using requestAnimationFrame makes nearly all the difference but if you push for faster refresh rate on a 120Hz display, like a MacBook Pro, you’ll get it!

I do love TypeScript.

But I don't think I've ever felt as much joy - or as much like a badass senior dev - as when I used XState every day.

Taught me more about building complex UI than every other bit of tech combined.

XState v5 is here and it’s time to update those v4 machines! Enhanced TypeScript support, flexible event handling, an improved API, and actor model focus! Try it out!

For long form UI wizards with many paths, state machines offer a great solution to power the logic. Libraries like #xstate are mature, and offer some amazing tooling to visualize various journeys

🪄 You can now import a state machine from a GitHub file, make changes in Stately Studio, and make a pull request back to GitHub without touching any code.

Naming stuff is hard, even within state machines! But here are a few considerations when naming to make things more readable.

GitHub Sync was a highly requested feature and its release allows for integrating existing code repos with advanced editing capabilities of Stately Studio. It’s one of those features I always wished I had over the years and it’s so satisfying to contribute to its development!
