As for me, I cried half a dozen times while writing this piece about the mother who founded PFLAG National. When her son was outed in 1968, homosexuality was illegal in 49 states. Instead of trying to change him, she set about trying to change the world. newyorker.com/magazine/2023/…
Second: it took YEARS, but @cncep and I finally have a piece in the The New Yorker at the same time.
First, and *very* belatedly, I'm so honored to be a finalist for this year's Lambda Literary awards. Congratulations to all the other wonderful writers here, too.
HIS NAME IS GEORGE FLOYD by Robert Samuels and Toluse Olorunnipa, THE INVISIBLE KINGDOM by Meghan O'Rourke, and LOST AND FOUND by Kathryn Schulz among the year's best works of nonfiction according to The Washington Post.

I love the new Random House Group paperback edition of 'Lost & Found,' which goes on sale next week. If you need a gift for someone who is thinking about love -- losing it, finding it, keeping it -- please pick up a copy from your favorite indie bookstore. penguinrandomhouse.com/books/589143/l…

A few years ago, I wrote about Jen Castle & @blakerspalding, the amazing women behind Hell's Backbone Grill & Farm 💙🇺🇦🙏🏼. The pandemic was tough on their restaurant. If you care to help out, you can shower your loved ones & yourself with delicious goodies from their shop: hellsbackbonegrill.com/shop

Highly recommended: 'Profiles in Ignorance,' a new book by Andy Borowitz. Can't remember the last time I read something so maddening that was also so hilarious. Also, it is diagnostically astute about the rise of ignorance in American politics. simonandschuster.com/books/Profiles…
