Homelessness will continue to rise unless the Government strengthens the Renters (Reform) Bill to protect renters.📃

Yesterday we released a report looking at further expanding the early years childcare offer in Scotland focused on prioritising low income families and reducing poverty.

We find that while it increases disposable incomes there is less of an impact on child poverty, why is this?

Oliver Dowden in PMQs has said that he is confident that the government will deliver on their manifesto commitment to ban Section 21 no-fault evictions today.

❌ But the Renters (Reform) Bill abolishes Section 21 in name only, giving renters no security.

🗣️ The Renters (Reform) Bill, as it stands, prioritises placating landlords and backbenchers over strengthening tenants' rights.

🕐 It's not too late to fix it.

📢 The Renters' Reform Coalition is calling on the government to ban Section 21 evictions and give renters security.

🏘️ Tackling hardship in neighbourhoods requires state capacity to give immediate financial relief in crisis.

🤝 But greater impact can be made if central govt approaches it as a shared challenge with neighbourhoods, says Katie Schmuecker.
