Excited to preside over the commissioning of solar backup system at Parliament Bldg in Lilongwe. It's a $50k grant from International Solar Alliance & Mw Govt. Phase 1 consists of 25kWp. Phase 2 to follow with 105kWp system. 25kWp saves 44MWh/year, avoids 33 tons CO2 emissions.

Met @JulesKortenhorst, CEO of C-Quest Capital LLC, discussed their investments in energy sector & improved cook stoves. They've deployed 1.5M stoves in Malawi, reducing charcoal use & lung diseases. CQuest also leading nature-based solutions trials. Assured govt support.

The World Bank is working closely with the gov’t to reach its access goals by enhancing private sector participation in strategic investments such as #Mpatamanga Hydro project, diversifying the energy mix & leveraging opportunities for regional power trade. 🇲🇼

I visited Nkula Power Station Yesterday, October 21, 2023, and earlier today, where EGENCO is carrying out maintainance works involving replacement of dislodged intake screens for Nkula B. I am impressed with the progress registered so far.

President Lazarus Chakwera held bilateral talks with Prime Minister of Iceland, Katrín Jacobsdóttir, during which they discussed continued support in areas of education, health, water and sanitation, as well as community development, among others.
