Barbican Centre adorned in beautiful batakari fabric by the talented Ibrahim mahama. The intimate scale of hand-dying, -weaving, -stitching contrasts with the Barbican’s mammoth scale: 2000 sq meters of cloth, over 100 batakari smocks - mind boggling!

The #Barbican (Barbican Centre) was in need of a makeover and #artist Ibrahim Mahama (@ibrahim_mahama) was only too happy to oblige. His latest work 'Purple Hibiscus' covers the drab, concrete walls of the Lakeside Terrace. A wonder to behold. #creativity #diversity #culture

Ghanaian artist, Ibrahim mahama , has draped London's Barbican Centre in pink and purple fabric hand-embroidered with more than 130 'batakaris' as part of a new exhibition.

The project is named after Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's Purple Hibiscus.
