In the week since the derecho hit Houston, area union apprentices have joined other community organizations to help the hardest-hit neighborhoods. So far, they have assisted at about 100 homes and have distributed necessities to hundreds more. And there's more work to come.

And Office of Commissioner Lesley Briones, Precinct 4 has recruited volunteers from Gulf Coast AFL-CIO #ProudUnionVoter to collect debris, mostly fallen trees that destroyed cars and damaged homes

Harris County residents can visit the following two locations to visit with FEMA's Disaster Survivor Assistance Crew, get help applying for FEMA assistance, ask questions, and learn about available resources.

I joined 17 Texas Gulf Coast Labor Federation union apprentices at Finnigan Park Community Center for a cleanup in Fifth Ward and Denver Harbor.

The recent storm left behind property damage and littered streets but Houstonians work together to persist in the face of disaster.
