A noteworthy find I hadn't seen before by Tyler Austin Harper

The racist willingness to discriminate against Asian Americans, and the dearth of concern about that (or even the support for it!) among some people who describe themselves as 'anti racist,' continues to astound.

Among all the other problems with DEI statements, notice that the science faculty on the hiring committee that will evaluate these statements *have no expertise in DEI* (unlike teaching and research at their institution, which they are better qualified to evaluate)

The contempt for California voters, who've twice declared in ballot initiatives that they don't want race considered in college admissions, is strong.

If the US is going to become more strategically 'selfish' about protecting key industries from Chinese/foreign competition, wouldn't it be ideologically consistent to aggressively revamp high-skill immigration policy so we can hoard all the world's geniuses who want to work here?

When I was a leftist, my thinking on capitalism was:

• poverty exists because capitalism causes income inequality
• I have to work harder for my goals than others because the income inequality capitalism creates sets you up for unfairness at birth

Conor Friedersdorf BTW, gotta love that moment when they force you to work on whatever they dictate you must do and work is then 'transformed from something merely necessary into something that is an expression of human solidarity.'

I think Glenn is correct here, but also, anyone who has a problem with this, but has spent years insisting free speech on campus wasn't threatened, did so in the face of myriad examples just as egregious.

In 2016 I provided lots of specific examples: theatlantic.com/politics/archi…

Los Angeles wrote an “emergency declaration” to address the housing crisis that somewhat accidentally *actually unleashed a torrent of applications to build* and now the city is furiously backpedaling.
