“For the good of the country, Donald Trump should drop out the 2024 presidential race.”

Credit to Washington Monthly for being what appears to be the very first media outlet today - and throughout this ‘24 campaign-to call for trump to drop out.

“For months, our media was saturated with calls from bored pundits and anxious Democrats for President Joe Biden to drop out of the race … because he’s old and slightly behind in most polls. The grounds justifying a Trump withdrawal are a bit more firm.” washingtonmonthly.com/2024/05/30/don…

The common wisdom is that short deliberations favor the prosecution and long ones favor the defense.

I don't think it's that simple.

Sometimes, long deliberations reflect massive factual records and/or complicated law, like Ghislaine Maxwell (5 days) and Liz Holmes (7 days).

Biden Absolutely Should Take Credit for the Economy, says @BillScher in the Washington @Monthly. The president should ignore counsel from David Axelrod and others who say it’s self-defeating to convince dour Americans that the economy is good.

Another important piece from Washington Monthly.

—More of America's impact on world comes from Calif than from any other state. (Tech, media/pop culture, agriculture, etc)

—Most populous (and most economically productive) state way under-represented in federal policy toward the world.

I hesitate to speculate too much about the jury note, but the requests seem to relate to Trump’s conduct re: the conspiracy, so if they got that far that might mean they found enough to determine that Trump at least made or caused false business entries in the second degree.

Trump's Sordid Case Goes to the Jury. Now, a dozen Manhattanites will sort through a complex morass of charges and try to deliver justice. It actually shouldn’t be that hard, explains Jim Zirin in the Washington @Monthly.

Apply all the caveats here, but first instinct is this is not welcome news for Trump. Prosceutors spent a lot of their lengthy close focusing on value of Pecker's testimony. This is the roadmap they asked jurors to follow.
