The idea of a University in Lusaka started in the early 1950s then abandoned in 1953 with the birth of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland. In 1963 a Commission recommended a University in Lusaka. In 1965 the University of Zambia was established and opened on 12 July 1966.

Today marks 10 years since Sir Lenny Henry opened Dudley Archives at Tipton Road on 23rd April 2014.

We would like to thank everyone who has visited us in the past decade. To celebrate, we will be sharing memories of the Archives in years gone by and the history of Tipton Road.
