We had a wonderful day visiting Cyfarthfa museum Cyfarthfa Park. The children learned about the history of the Crawshay family, Cyfarthfa Castle and the iron works. We also visited Joseph Parry’s cottage and Cyfarthfa ironworks. #AberHum CSC_Humanities

Explorers 2 had a fantastic day becoming a Victorian child and experiencing what school was like in the Victorian era. We learnt so much from our session with Sain Ffagan | St Fagans. In the afternoon we looked at toys and other classroom equipment thanks to Cyfarthfa Park #AberHum

220 o flynyddoedd yn ôl heddiw llwyddodd locomotif Penydarren Richard Trevithick i wneud y daith o #Penydarren i #Abercynon Dywedir ei fod wedi cymryd 9 awr i'w gwblhau ac roedd pwysau'r locomotif yn golygu bod y cledrau yn dal i dorri a bu'n rhaid i Drevithick eu disodli ei hun.

220 years ago today Richard Trevithick's Penydarren locomotive successfully made the journey from #Penydarren to #Abercynon It is said to have taken 9 hours to complete and the weight of the locomotive meant the tracks kept breaking and Trevithick had to replace them himself.
