Snakes like our Egyptian cobra don't have eyelids. Instead, they have a clear scale over their eyes called spectacles or eye caps to protect them. These are replaced with new spectacles during every shed just like the snake's other scales! 🐍

Up-close look! Lookdowns are a fish species related to jacks, and can be found from Maine down to Uruguay. Their mouths can actually extend pretty far open, allowing them to consume larger prey than you'd expect, such as crabs! 🦀
