Today, Gov. Cooper presented his budget which includes an 8.5% pay raise for our teachers and $1B investment in public education. We must do the right thing and invest in our public schools, not taxpayer funded private school vouchers for the wealthy.

When we look back at protest movements of the past - especially ones on college campuses - we always condemn violence against the protests. Let's hold those lessons close right now and not repeat the mistakes of the past.

It's particularly galling that the people who excuse the domestic terrorists at the Capitol on Jan 6th are calling for violence against mostly peaceful student protests. It really shows you how little they value the rights of Americans.

The GOP calls to bring in the national guard are dangerous.. The national guard should not be used to attack students exercising their freedom of speech. Thankfully President Biden and other leaders are rejecting that.
