We begin our three-day investigation of succession in 🇨🇷 with a trip to nearby restoration plots where former pastureland is being reforested. Students measured environment & plant physiological responses—tomorrow, it’s on to a secondary forest, & Saturday a primary forest!

Today was a full day learning plant form during our Plants and People in the #Anthropocene course in Costa Rica 🇨🇷! After a morning studying cross sections, Medelin Kant taught students how to make stomatal impressions (they did GREAT!) in the botanic garden.

Our first day at Las Cruces Biological Station began with a tour, including the canopy tower. Excited for students to learn about environmental gradients & to measure plant responses here over the next week during our #UFinCostaRica Plants and People in the #Anthropocene course!
