Simon Inglis Thanks so much Simon. Ps one of the first sports I ever got was your football grounds of England and Wales - still have it, must be 40 years old now!
‘Greatest sporting feat in the last 100 years’: Bannister’s sub four-minute mile - wonderful article, great story Sean Ingle theguardian.com/sport/article/…
No time to visit them all so which of #Berlin ’s historic baths should I plump for? I went for Stadbat Neukolln, opened 1914, 2 pools, kleine & grosse, still publicly funded, still looking fine from plastered ceiling to terrazzo flooring. Historic Pools of Britain The Victorian Society The Arts Society
In Berlin to give The Arts Society lecture & as it’s May Day here’s Werner March’s Olympiastadion from Maifeld. Was sorry that swimming stadium stands under wraps for renovation but March’s 1936 equestrian stand was bonus. Hope city can bid for 2036 - to showcase the new Berlin
Our #TuesdayTreasure is the beautiful Minton & Hollins tiles, an arch support & boss at #Carlisle 's #TurkishBaths . Amazing ceramic design with sumptuous colour & detail.
One of the reasons why we want to #ReopenCarlisleBaths 😉
