Does anyone from Team English have a replacement text for The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q. Rauf with similar themes? We've used it in the past as part of the transition from Year 6, but a lot of primary schools are now teaching it. #TeamEnglish

Team English can you help? My son is in year 7 and has an exam coming up where he needs to write PEARL paragraphs. He is struggling to know what the L is for. He knows it stands for Link, but he doesn’t know what that means.
I haven’t a clue…

Bronte Team English I use this grid at the start. A problem with A Level mark schemes is they assume knowledge of a whole text, or even 2 for prose. It’s too hard, and demoralising, to use the mark scheme straight away. I highlight on this and stress that mastering does not mean it’s all perfect.
