If you’re wondering how prepped Conservative HQ is for the election - I’m told they were ringing round prospective candidates yesterday trying to fill constituencies which don’t yet have a confirmed Tory candidate

Many Tory MPs taken by surprise and had been prepping for this election to come in the autumn - they had work they were doing which now won’t be done

They’ll be expecting an explanation from the PM why he has gone earlier than expected, which hasn’t come yet

Sunak’s suit being drenched with rain as he calls an election will be a picture for the ages

Calling an election after getting hammered in the locals and while you’re 24 points behind in the polls is quite the risk - suspect there are quite a lot of unhappy Tory MPs right now…
