Curbside organics collection could save our city tens of millions.

But the success of this rollout hinges on the participation that community composting brings.

My colleagues in the New York City Council & I wrote to Mayor Eric Adams urging him to restore funding in this budget:

We’ve made some huge progress on rat mitigation in Upper Manhattan.

We established rat mitigation zones.

We changed waste set-out rules.

And we implemented trash containerization with NYC Sanitation.

A rat summit is just what we need to take what we’ve learned citywide!

We can have all the composting infrastructure in the world, but none of it will matter if we fail to educate New Yorkers about composting.

Unraveling our community composting program is going to kill jobs and devastate our ability to communicate with the public.

I’m disappointed to share that GrowNYC’s compost drop off sites at Borough Hall & McCarren Park will close on May 20.

This never should have happened. It’s a direct result of Mayor Adams cuts to community compost programs.

I'm laser focused on ensuring funding is back July 1.

Keeping our streets clean is one of my top priorities.

We organized Alternate Side Parking enforcement actions this week in Boerum Hill with NYC Sanitation and @nypdnews to ensure street sweepers are able to effectively clean our streets.

W. 145th & Riverside now sits in the shadow of a Harlem luminary: Judge Hubert T. Delany, one of the first Black justices in NYC.

An advisor to Dr. King, Jackie Robinson, and Langston Hughes, Judge Delany didn’t just counsel giants—he was one.

What a privilege to honor him.

At today’s hearing, I questioned NYPD leadership about recent posts by top officials using their accounts to attack my colleagues, journalists and civilians.

A DOI policy + practices investigation isn't an excuse to avoid answering questions about NYPD policies.

The Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act will create a real financial incentive for companies to waste less & use more recyclable materials.

Together with Office of New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, Council Member Shaun Abreu, NYClimate, Beyond Plastics & NRDC 🌎🏡, we are calling on Albany to get it done.

HPD is coming to Upper Manhattan!

NYC Housing is critical to our inter-agency effort to protect tenants, maintain affordability, & enforce building safety.

They are setting up shop at our district office and Ascension Church this Monday, May 13, to address your housing needs.

We all know Harlem has the best dance moves in the entire city.

It was so much fun to stop by the performance arts facility at Riverbank State Park yesterday, where Belongó | Afro Latin Jazz was hosting a rockin’ senior social.

This is what community is all about.

🗣️Disposable packaging and single-use products contribute to mountains of trash in NYC.

We spend half a billion ($450M) to dump our waste in upstate communities.

Read my op-ed on why NYS must pass the Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act:
