Key for this district is asking schools to do Plan So Study Act (PDSA) cycles around attendance. Schools that see results are motivated to keep trying more solutions and seeing results (or stop doing things that are not working).

Another for absenteeism: celebrate and reward (access to events etc) not just for perfect attendance but also for improved attendance. Consider something fun like a special athletic event for kids you need to re-engage.

Another strategy for addressing absenteeism: developing a team of folks (from attendance takers to counselors etc) to reach out to kids and let them know they care, want to see them graduate.

One strategy mentioned in this district is *preventing* chronic absences by focusing on kids headed toward chronic but not there yet. Build relationships etc before it's too late.
