Very happy with the 21 Popelouchum Grenache Blanc/Gris. The higher acidity and the fact that it’s unfiltered require some patience; on the other hand, this wine will live for ages.

Randall Grahm this pink is a lot of fun in a lot of ways, but the 2021 Popelouchum Grenaches is just stunning. A fitting wine for the first Copper River salmon of the season.

Very excited to try a new approach to fashioning proper head trained vines. Will involve a little bit of superstructure but not crazy. Most importantly should help protect tender shoots from wind breakage.

Lovely day at the vineyard, working with Sérine self-crossed seedlings. Every year some new plants tentatively put out some (generally pretty modest) flower clusters. This is not a rapid process

Shoot thinning some monster vines. It looks (almost) like there is more foliage on the ground than remains on the vine. #breathe .

I’ve been asked by a California wine society to present to them a range of white Rhone varieties, mostly from California. A few come immediately to mind but happy to hear any suggestions of personal favorites.
