Pond dipping is a great way to learn about what lives beneath the surface of the water. Some of which you may see flying around in summer, such as dragonfly nymphs! We've got it running until Sunday 14th April (closed Friday and Saturday).

It's been a windy old day here at Rye Meads. We can understand why this ladybird and two spiders decided to get some shelter and even catch some rays from the sun!

Have you ever wanted to build a birds nest? Come and have a go at our Spring Trail and you can do just that! Here's one of our favourite nests that has been built, they've even included some moss for a little extra comfort!

Have you ever seen Caddisfly Larvae (pic below if you haven't)? They use debris and wrap it in silk to create a case to pupate in. If you haven't, you could see one when Pond Dipping which we are now running until 14th April (Sun-Thurs, closed Fri and Sat).

Been a good week RSPB Rye Meads for me with NEW to me species this Bracket fungus common names Dryads saddle (From Greek mythology a Wood nymph) or Pheasants back (no need to google that) & the amazing Eyelash cup fungus … Never to old to learn/find new things & research 🧐
