I need you to have conversations about what consensual help looks like for disabled people.

I need you to unlearn your ableism that instantly assumes incompetence in a disabled parent.

I need you to tell the volunteer to leave me alone or write the complaint as a witness.

One of the most exhausting things about being a blind mum is how often other people will monitor, oversee or intervene in my parenting.

And no, I’m not talking about being “helpful”, because help is mutually beneficial.
