The country of opportunities, spurned by people for a 'lifestyle choice' to stay on benefits, that Hunt & Stride describe in their Times piece is completely divorced from the reality millions of people are facing as they struggle to afford the basics, often despite being in work

This is a critical point from Gordon Brown's latest piece on the need for a meaningful response to rising child poverty

Putting more money in the pockets of low-income families is a vital & sound investment to reduce the long-term impact & cost of poverty theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

If circumstances & opportunities allow, the vast majority of people on low earnings will try to increase their hours or find a better-paid job

The idea that DWP needs to apply pressure & threats to this group to encourage this is misguided, harmful dogma bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

'40% of homes sold under the policy are now being let on the private market – in Brighton, the proportion is 86%'

Great to see John Harris citing NEF's new report on Right to Buy in this piece on the growing consensus around the need for major reform theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Well, I don't think anyone was expecting that!

But if it helps to pave the way for the end of this heinous policy then I'll take support from wherever it comes telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/05/1…

Great Parth Patel piece on NHS productivity & investment

The NHS work I occasionally do requires little equipment or tech - I'm mostly talking to people about their mental health - but is still held up by crappy IT & undermined by run-down office space theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
