I've recently come to appreciate just how important downscaling is for climate impacts work. This work on physically-constrained DL methods for climate downscaling seems very promising to me: leverage what AI is best at while respecting the laws of physics!

turning weekend projects in short papers! we compared a diffusion model against a UNet for downscaling climate data. diffusion better preserves the fine structures and gives uncertainty estimates 🌎🌍🌏arxiv.org/abs/2404.17752
