PhD Voice - Independently Run PostdocVoice One that they can afford and are not going to abandon at the end of the year/program. Pets are great for mental health and companionship but they are expensive and I saw many abandoned at years end while I worked at the RSPCA during my PhD

PhD Voice - Independently Run PostdocVoice So far, during my PhD, Iโ€™ve got a dog, two chickens, two budgies and two Guinea pigs. I started out with three chickens and two Guinea pigs - most (but not all) of them have survived the PhD.

Basically any pet. Or all pets. I love pets.

PhD Voice - Independently Run PostdocVoice Definitely a cat. I was allergic to cats though (and so are some of my family members) so I got 4 guinea pigs instead...which I was also allergic to ๐Ÿ˜‚
