PhD Voice - Independently Run PostdocVoice Rubber duck. Always there to listen to your ideas and provide precious feedback
PhD Voice - Independently Run PostdocVoice One that they can afford and are not going to abandon at the end of the year/program. Pets are great for mental health and companionship but they are expensive and I saw many abandoned at years end while I worked at the RSPCA during my PhD
PhD Voice - Independently Run PostdocVoice A Rottweiler to keep your supervisor away from your thesis (only joking).
PhD Voice - Independently Run PostdocVoice A cat. Cats can look after themselves for extended periods and are capable of returning your love and affection measure for measure.
PhD Voice - Independently Run PostdocVoice Cat! Much more adaptable to the (often unpredictable) hours that a PhD brings.

PhD Voice - Independently Run PostdocVoice A pet rock. Low maintenance, always there to listen to your thesis rants, and won't judge you for living off instant noodles.
PhD Voice - Independently Run PostdocVoice Definitely a cat. I was allergic to cats though (and so are some of my family members) so I got 4 guinea pigs instead...which I was also allergic to ๐
PhD Voice - Independently Run PostdocVoice Dragon, I need one to motivate me during procrastination.
