Happy #FieldworkFriday ! Last week we headed to site HOPR near lake Wenatchee. We were met with some perfect working conditions and even more perfect views!
Do not let Jedi mind tricks make you think otherwise, Happy *Third* Anniversary USGS ShakeAlert in WA!
Happy #FieldworkFriday ! Birds eye view of a repair on site WA2 in the high desert of eastern Washington. WA2 is quite remote and benefits both rural and urban populations through its contribution to USGS ShakeAlert, which celebrates 3 years operating in WA this weekend.
Happy #FieldworkFriday ! Taking advantage of a beautiful day with some tower climbing at Capitol Peak, south of Olympia. This tower serves as a vital comms site for PNSN and hosts site CPW. We don’t always do work like this, so when we do it is deserving of some drone shots!

Happy #FieldworkFriday ! Students from Colorado School of Mines & CU Boulder 🦬 deployed a seismic refraction survey last week near Port Angeles. The data will calibrate a 5km-long buried Distributed Acoustic Sensing array of virtual broadband seismometers. pnsn.org/blog/2022/08/1…
Happy #FieldworkFriday ! We found a friendly skink keeping warm on the vault of site TOLT during our trip to the Tolt River Watershed and dam last week. We often find reptiles and other critters enjoying the moisture and heat created by the plastic vault lids at some sites.
Happy #FieldworkFriday ! Spring break is a great time to get work done at schools that serve as gracious hosts and partners in seismic monitoring in WA&OR. WOLFR was installed this week and will function as a radio receive site for 3 stations in the south Puget Sound.
Happy #FieldworkFriday ! We went out to the Olympic Peninsula to rebuild site OCP last week on a 2-day work trip and ran into classic PNW spring conditions. Day 1 we enjoyed great weather and sunny skies but got soaked by driving rain on day 2. What a difference a day can make!

Happy #FieldworkFriday ! Station LON is in the same building at Mt. Rainier Nation Park that houses the old WWSSN station. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World-Wid… That network and this old equipment kept watch for nuclear weapons testing and ultimately helped to elucidate plate tectonics.
Happy #FieldworkFriday ! This week marks the last full week of winter. The snow is melting and the plants are blooming, spring has finally sprung in Washington!
