Just N of Seahouses harbour Northumberland & Tyneside Bird Club plenty of Turnstone plus 8 Purple Sandpipers. Lovely walk to Bamburgh this morning. Stopped to watch Sandwich Terns resting on the shoreline, then noticed 4 Little Terns amongst them - what a difference in size! Sadly no camera with me.

Lesser Whitethroat, Northumberland. An unobtrusive species, always a delight to hear sing with the quiet warble, followed by a final flourish.

There have been a confusing array of redpolls passing through the garden over the last few weeks, including a few I’ve been unsure what to label. I don’t think this large pale individual is a Lesser!? Northumberland & Tyneside Bird Club

The biblical levels of rainfall we’ve had so far this year have created some good looking flashes in North Tyneside, and a routine check came up trumps in the rain this evening with a Greenshank at Backworth.
