Exciting News: OMWaNA clinical trial reveals that #KangarooMotherCare (KMC) can reduce infant mortality by 14% in the first 28 days.
The trial, recently published in The Lancet, studied the effectiveness and economic evaluation of KMC.

Led by our Director Prof Moffat Nyirenda, the event attracted participation from senior scientists like Professors:Liam Smeeth, Pontiano Kaleebu, Sarah Lewington,Eleftheria Zeggini, Nicholas Timpson, george davey smith & Dr. Kobus Herbst who discussed the future of population health research.
We were excited to host executives and senior scientists from London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine , Medical Research Council, University of Oxford, UCL, Helmholtz Institute Würzburg (HIRI) and Africa Health Research Institute in a 3-day General Population Cohort (GPC) Symposium aimed at mapping out a strategy to maximizethe Unit's GPC impact on science.
Our DIY Youth Researchers & #FriendsF4R hosted a community workshop themed 'challenging outdated ideologies on disability & special educational needs.' Political leaders, researchers, and youth with disabilities from North Charleston Police & Show Abilities Uganda attended!
Measles Outbreak Update: Dr.josephine bwogi, the Principal Research Officer heading the EPI Department at UVRI recommended the need for including evidence-based research to guide public health interventions in response to the outbreak.
