I also notice stay at home parents β including carers for chronically ill disabled children & then adult children β also have no value in the eyes of Tory UK.
Lily Bailey Yup. I've had 3 long periods (over 1 year, max 7) where I haven't been able to work due to depression/anxiety. I'd have loved to have been in work, earning a wage. Thanks, Rishi, for basically saying I don't deserve dignity and security because my brain f'ed up.
Next up, by Lily Bailey the Adrien Prize winner, βWhen I see BLUEβ!
Thank you to Elle McNicoll βπ»π & the The Adrien Prize for sharing this bookβ¦I canβt wait!!
Lily Bailey This! A billion times. Itβs also so hard to find your identity if you canβt work in a society that places value on tangible achievements.
To be shortlisted with you Thomas Leeds π³οΈβπ, hux | lizzie huxley-jones ππ and Patience Agbabi has been such an honour #AdrienPrize
Enormously pleased and proud to have taken part in this with such a great shortlist! π Huge thanks of course to our young readers and to Elle McNicoll βπ»π for making it possible!
Iβm so chuffed to see this. Iβve got so much love for this book, and itβs sequel. Extremely readable and with characters you truly get to understand and care about. I hope winning the Adrien Prize helps get it into the hands of lots of new readers. Congratulations Lily Bailey!
Iβve been really struggling with both my mental health (OCD up the wall) and confidence lately. This is such an incredible boost that itβs hard to get a sentence out about it. Thank you everyone at The Adrien Prize, this means more than I can say

What an absolute privilege it has been to have been shortlisted alongside such brilliant other authors hux | lizzie huxley-jones ππ, Thomas Leeds π³οΈβπ and Patience Agabi, all of whom are also authors I massively respect and admire. Brb going to have a little cry. I wasnβt expecting this today
Lily Bailey Does feeling ill or well feel the same?. Perhaps on my best day I only feel as well as you feel all the time. Or vice versa. But I can't really compare this or whether you and I see green as the same thing. If we could swap bodies for 10 minutes I think we would be amazed.
