The Avalon Pedestrian Bridge and Promenade Gateway is slated to start construction in 2025, which will create another 12 acres of new open space for the Wilmington community, while also connecting Harry Bridges Boulevard and Avalon Boulevard to the LA Waterfront.

Completion of the new promenade sets the stage for the next-phase public access improvement project planned for Wilmington by the Port of Los Angeles.

The brand new Wilmington Waterfront Promenade at the Port of Los Angeles officially opened to the public on Saturday, Feb. 3.

Led by Mayor Karen Bass, hundreds of community members and leaders joined #PortofLA officials today to celebrate the grand opening of the $77.3 million Wilmington Waterfront Promenade, a nine-acre project creating a “window on the waterfront” for the community. portofla.org/WWPnowopen

On Feb. 3, the #PortofLA will host the 10th Annual Lunar New Year Festival at the new Wilmington Waterfront Promenade, starting with a grand opening from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., immediately followed by the festival concluding at 6:30 p.m. w/ a fireworks display over the LA Waterfront!
