Rather than Tweeting about Patrick Beverley’s conduct, I wrote about it. My column 👇🏾 theathletic.com/5470524/2024/0…

It’s great that Pat Bev called and apologized to Malinda Adams. Curious if he did so to all the other reporters he treated the same way - even before arriving in Milwaukee - or was this different because a light was shined on it and ESPN is a rights partner?

Did not know this after 3 decades away from NBA locker rooms, but the league limits locker room access to only established, credible media who’ve been around the league or in the biz for a minute. That’s out of respect for players and media. Makes Beverley’s actions even worse.

This type of unprofessionalism should not be tolerated by the Bucks, the NBA or any sports league. Patrick Beverly should be ashamed of himself.

One of the great things about sport is competitive character. The 76ers and Knicks both displayed it. Tremendous game. Can’t wait for the next one.

Entering these NBA playoffs, 151 of 151 teams had failed to come back from a 3-0 deficit in a best-of-7 series. After the Lakers avoided elimination Saturday, forcing a Game 5, Darvin Ham asked, “Why not us?” Respectfully, here are a few reasons. My column 👇🏾

When DJT said he could “stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters,” who knew the Supreme Court would take it one step further & say he also couldn’t be prosecuted for it? Today’s oral arguments hint that that’s where things are headed. Wow!

The foundation of Caitlin Clark’s attractiveness as a brand ambassador is her incredible basketball talent. But that’s not all that’s at play. My column 👇🏾 theathletic.com/5440119/2024/0…

One positive about not being involved with this year’s NFL draft is that I get to avoid stupid - and predictable - shit like this. 🤦🏾‍♂️

If major professional sports leagues really wanted to deter their athletes from gambling, they’d have a uniform zero-tolerance policy - no ifs, ands or appeals. My column 👇🏾 theathletic.com/5425123/2024/0…

Shohei Ohtani's contract deferrals set him up to escape paying over $90 million in California state taxes. I spoke to the state senator who is seeking to close that loophole: theathletic.com/5406619/2024/0…

Which is why I wrote Sunday that ESPN/ABC doesn’t deserve the tournament. Women’s basketball has succeeded despite ESPN, not because of it. Richard Deitsch
