Interested in exploring the connection between personal flood experience and protective behavior? Are you further curious about the role played by the feeling of loss of control? If so, join me for my poster presentation on Wednesday, April 17th, from 10:45 to 12:30.

Thanks for having me at CNDS . Really interesting discussions on the potential and biases of newspaper and text-as-data to understand heterogeneity in drought impacts.

Happy to share that our paper on water allocation dynamics is out in Environmental Research Letters IOP Environment! We use NLP tools to extract information from over 1000 minutes of stakeholder meetings held in Ceara, Brazil.

It seems to me there's a difference between writing research papers and (e.g. PhD) theses/dissertations. While the 'we/I investigated' has become normal for research papers, the 'fancy' passive formulations still stick for writing theses '...investigated in this thesis'. Why??

A good day at work, as a Ph.D. student working with natural language processing in the social sciences, is a day where I find a way to skip reading or annotating text by using some fuzzy unsupervised word embeddings stuff

In undergrad studies, I loved citing chapters from such books in coursework (often without reading them). Hope the work of Dr. Mariana Madruga de Brito and I can help future generations of students make similar claims on the computational future of environmental sociology in their courseworks.
