Today is women in maritime security day

Thanks to all the women in this field that make it easier for those who come after them. That is a true legacy.

‘The theme this year is 'Safe Horizons: Women Shaping the Future of Maritime Safety'.

And then there were 10 - A decommissioning is an important day - one to remember the stories of those that served in, and made this ship their life. At least for a small period of time.

I remember decommissioning HMAS Darwin as the XO very fondly. Always a day of emotion.

A fantastic night at the Naval Institute annual Vernon Parker Oration and dinner last night. Oration was delivered by Rory Medcalf who certainly lived up to expectations.

For the sometimes resurgent 'aircraft carrier for the RAN' debate here in Australia, how about considering what might be possible with 'drone carriers' purpose designed to support an uncrewed air wing.
