Staff and prisoners have taken the Angel of the North on a (theoretical) road trip from her home in Gateshead to Durham and back! In a two-hour circuit, 12 participants moved 208 tonnes over 27 miles. In doing so, they've raised an incredible £1,000 (and counting) for Children North East
The safety of our staff & prisoners' is paramount, which is why we review our contingency plans regularly.
Our Health, Safety & Fire team recently undertook a tactical exercise with County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service to learn new ways of ensuring both prisoners’ and staff safety when dealing with a fire.

Recently, prisoners at HMP Durham asked to raise money for charity in memory of Ronnie, an officer who sadly passed away. With the approval of Ronnie's family, prisoners have raised £550 in support of Sir Bobby Robson Foundation's search for new, effective ways to detect and treat cancer.
This week Steve Garrett Prison Service Charity Fund Rep HMP Durham presented the special award of £2000 to the Henry Dancer Days Charity. This is a fantastic charity that supports children with cancer ❤️❤️❤️
We recently worked alongside 3Pillars Project and @Falconsrugby to deliver a week-long course combining rugby and lifestyle coaching. It was an excellent example of partnership working, using rugby coaching as a gateway to trauma-informed mentoring and support.
