After nearly 20 years as MP for Tunbridge Wells I will not be standing at the General Election.

I am grateful and proud to have been able to speak and fight for the people of this beautiful and famous place. Standing is a 5 year commitment and it’s time to pass the baton on.

Some of the crimes of David Fuller were so depraved that the law didn’t even envisage them. Now it will.

Andy has set the standard for a modern Mayoralty - leading his region with energy, acumen and devotion. The West Midlands is immeasurably better for his public service. Thank you, Andy.

Glad to be told by Government that my and David Wolfson ‘s Private Member’s Bill - now the Protection from Sex-based Harassment in Public Act - will come into force on 1st October.

From that date intentionally harassing women in public will be a specific crime for the first time.

I’m sad to hear that Andrew Stunell has died. He was an effective minister during the coalition government - I enjoyed our time working together on the Localism Act and drawing up the NPPF. He was always a kind and supportive colleague.

Very sad to learn that Paul Rowsell CBE has died. Paul was a wonderful public servant in Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities. He was the UK’s greatest authority on local governance, expertly delivering every devolution measure since 2010 & advising ministers for decades before that. He will be hugely missed.
