Due to severe weather during the evening rush, our Metrorail system experienced electrical arcing, which can occur when debris is sent onto the tracks. There was no fire or explosion. Miami-Dade Transit has safety measures in place to prevent damage and further issues.

OTD in 1984, Miami-Dade DTPW's newest means of transportation, the Metrorail, began serving the South Florida community. The inaugural day attracted a staggering crowd of over 100,000 individuals eager to explore this novel transit system.
