Good morning! That was quite the alarm clock for much of Iowa

I think there is some confusion as to what the forecast actually means. The range is they are giving are for the number of named storms or hurricanes, not the number of names, storms, or hurricanes that make landfall.

Many people react to the hurricane forecast w/ “they say it’s going to be above average every year… And they’re fear mongering/always wrong.”

Reality check: NHC actually under forecast 4 of the last 5 seasons when they put out their first ranges in May. cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/outlo…

As Ginger Zee said, everyone needs to have (at least) two ways of getting warnings this weekend with the #severe weather threat and many people out and about.

HOT HOLIDAY WEEKEND along the gulf! While Miami has been roasting already in record heat indices all month, record heat this weekend back to Texas where Travis Herzog ⚡️ is forecasting a potential for hottest May heat index on record (feels like 111).

This made me a smile and hey, we all have lots of emotions throughout the day. I have definitely had both of these as well!

Me looking at the list: oh, I remember covering Beryl & Debby… and Isaac… but they recycle names every six years… so… omg that was 12 years ago😮 a real lesson in time flies😑also a reminder; unless the name is retired for being horrific(death/damage) it gets re-used!
